Ukraine’s Portable Power Market: What Sells and Where the 1–3 kWh Opportunity Is

Scope note: This analysis covers portable power stations listed for sale in Ukraine. Listing counts and merchant-offer counts indicate assortment and channel activity; they are not audited unit sales.

Executive view

Ukraine’s portable power market is no longer well described as a camping category. It is a resilience market shaped by four practical questions: how long the next interruption may last, which loads must stay online, how quickly the battery can be recharged when grid power returns, and whether one person can move the system.

The retail evidence supports that conclusion. Hotline.ua listed 527 charging-station products in its Ukrainian catalogue on 13 August 2026. The 1,000–2,499 Wh bands contained 210 listings—39.8% of the entire catalogue—while 218 products sat in the 1,000–2,999 W output bands. LiFePO4 chemistry appeared in 392 listings, UPS functionality in 253, solar charging in 346 and pure sine-wave output in 408.

Those figures do not prove sell-through, but they reveal where brands and resellers are committing shelf space. The centre of gravity is a repeat-use, apartment-and-small-business backup system: roughly 1–2.4 kWh, 1.8–2.4 kW output, fast AC charging, LiFePO4 chemistry and UPS/EPS capability. Above 3 kWh, runtime improves, but the product starts to compete with modular home storage and generators rather than with truly portable devices.

1. Why Ukrainian demand is structural, not seasonal

The underlying demand driver is energy insecurity. The European Commission states that attacks continue to compromise critical energy infrastructure. It also records more than €2 billion raised through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, plus a €100 million emergency package announced on 24 February 2026 for generators and humanitarian aid and a €920 million 2026–2027 Winter Energy Plan focused on repairing networks, expanding decentralised generation and strengthening grids.

This does not translate directly into consumer power-station sales. It does, however, show that backup power remains a system-level requirement rather than a short-lived retail trend. Portable stations fill the gap between a small power bank and a permanently installed battery or generator. They are especially relevant where installation is difficult, fuel is undesirable, noise matters or a user needs immediate plug-and-play backup.

Four demand clusters matter most:

  • Apartment continuity: routers, laptops, lighting, phones, television, gas-boiler controls and short refrigerator cycles.
  • Microbusiness continuity: point-of-sale terminals, card readers, communications, security systems, computers, small refrigeration and customer-facing lighting.
  • Mobile and field work: repair teams, telecom support, media crews, drone operations, mobile medical or humanitarian teams and temporary workspaces.
  • Hybrid resilience: users who recharge from AC whenever power returns but also want solar input, vehicle charging or expandable batteries for longer interruptions.

The commercial implication is important: Ukrainian buyers are not merely purchasing watt-hours. They are buying a bridge across an uncertain outage. A good product offer therefore has to specify the load plan, recharge window, service route and warranty—not just the battery capacity.

2. What the Ukrainian retail catalogue reveals

The catalogue also contains 61 products with transport wheels. That is a useful boundary marker: once a “portable” station needs wheels, the sales conversation changes from carry convenience to deployable backup infrastructure.

Brand depth

EcoFlow had the broadest listed assortment with 61 products, followed by BLUETTI with 51. Anker and Jackery each had 20, Oukitel 17, Fossibot 12, Allpowers 11 and Pecron 9. A total of 126 brands appeared in the filter.

That brand count signals a crowded and fragmented market. It also means a reseller should not assume that another technically similar model will win simply because it is cheaper. The channel already offers many substitutes. Clear warranty ownership, dependable stock, correct EU sockets, local-language documentation, spare-parts access and credible service become part of the product.

3. Representative models currently offered in Ukraine

The table below uses live Hotline.ua listing data captured on 13 August 2026. Price ranges and offer counts can change quickly. “Offers” means merchant listings aggregated by the platform, not confirmed inventory or units sold.

Capacity and output are increasingly decoupled. The DJI Power 1000 V2 is listed at 2,600 W from a 1,024 Wh battery, while the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is listed at 1,500 W from 1,070 Wh. The DJI can support a larger instantaneous load, but at that load its battery will empty quickly. The Jackery gives up peak appliance coverage in exchange for a lighter package. “1 kWh” is therefore not a sufficient product category on its own.

Price dispersion is extreme. EcoFlow DELTA 3 offers ranged from UAH 31,990 to UAH 52,999; BLUETTI AC180P ranged from UAH 36,680 to UAH 78,000. Product pages also showed materially different warranty periods and whether coverage came from the manufacturer or the shop. This is evidence of channel fragmentation, parallel-import risk or different service bundles—not necessarily irrational pricing.

Offer depth is concentrated around proven names. DELTA 3, AC180P and P2001 Plus had 78, 74 and 56 offers respectively, whereas the 3.84 kWh F3600 had 10. This does not prove demand, but it does show where resellers perceive faster turnover and lower inventory risk.

4. The real role of each capacity tier

Around 1 kWh: the mobility and continuity tier

The 1 kWh class is the best fit when a single person must move the system and the priority is communications, computing, lighting and selective appliance use. In Ukraine, a competitive 1 kWh unit should generally deliver at least 1.5–2.0 kW, use LiFePO4 cells, recharge rapidly from AC and provide pure sine-wave output.

The mistake is to sell this tier as “home backup” without a load plan. At an illustrative 85% usable-energy assumption, a 1,024 Wh station supplies about 870 Wh. A constant 150 W critical load may run for roughly 5.8 hours, while a 1,000 W heater can consume the same usable energy in well under an hour. Heating loads destroy runtime economics. The correct pitch is continuity for selected loads, not whole-apartment power.

Around 2 kWh: the market’s commercial sweet spot

The 2 kWh class is the strongest all-round proposition for Ukrainian households, home offices, shops and mobile service teams. At roughly 2,048 Wh and 2,400 W output, products such as the Oukitel P2001 Plus and FOSSiBOT F2400 can support a broader appliance mix and extend runtime while remaining installation-free.

This is also where portability becomes conditional. At 22 kg, these units are movable, but they are not products most customers will carry casually. Handles, vehicle loading, stair access and the actual operating location should be part of qualification. For distributors, this capacity band is likely to support the widest range of use cases and should carry the deepest stock.

Around 3–4 kWh: the deployable-infrastructure tier

The 3–4 kWh tier serves longer interruptions, grouped business loads, field operations and users who cannot recharge frequently. The FOSSiBOT F3600 illustrates the trade-off: 3,840 Wh and 3,600 W are materially more capable, but the unit weighs 42 kg and costs substantially more than core 1–2 kWh products.

At this level, the buyer should compare three architectures: one large unit, a lighter base unit with an expansion battery, or a fixed/modular storage system. A large portable station wins when immediate deployment and minimal installation are critical. Expansion architecture wins when the user wants to move the inverter separately from the battery. Fixed storage wins when backup is permanent and building integration is possible.

5. Where brands and distributors can still win

1. Sell a use-case bundle, not a black box

A Ukrainian offer should include a simple load worksheet, realistic runtime examples, recharge-time guidance, the correct charging cables and a clear explanation of UPS/EPS behaviour. Optional solar panels should be sized to the station’s actual input limit rather than bundled by marketing convenience.

2. Make warranty transparency visible before checkout

The live listings show that nominally identical units can carry one month of shop warranty, a longer shop warranty or manufacturer-backed coverage. A distributor that publishes the responsible service entity, turnaround target, spare-parts policy and serial-number traceability can justify a premium over grey-market offers.

3. Use the 2 kWh model as the hero product

For a three-tier portfolio, the 1 kWh model should acquire mobile and budget-sensitive buyers, the 2 kWh model should be the volume and margin anchor, and the 3 kWh model should be positioned as a consultative solution. Stocking every capacity equally would ignore both catalogue density and the rapid loss of portability above 2 kWh.

4. Compete on recharge resilience

Fast AC charging matters because the grid-availability window may be short. Solar input matters because it provides a second route, but winter yield, panel placement and weather must be treated realistically. The strongest proposition is not “solar powered”; it is “multiple credible ways to recharge before the next interruption.”

5. Protect the channel from price-only comparison

Wide price dispersion will pressure advertised margins. Resellers need distinguishable bundles: verified local warranty, VAT documentation, rapid delivery, application support, replacement-unit policies, solar kits and expansion batteries. Without those elements, a new brand will be reduced to a capacity-per-hryvnia comparison that established marketplaces already make brutally transparent.

6. Commercial implications for Solligent

For Solligent, the most defensible entry is not a broad catalogue. It is a focused resilience range built around three clearly separated jobs:

  • 1 kWh / 1.8–2.0 kW: portable continuity for apartments, remote work and mobile professionals.
  • 2 kWh / approximately 2.4 kW: the hero configuration for households, retailers, service teams and small offices.
  • 3–4 kWh / 3.0 kW or more: a wheels-or-modular solution sold through load qualification rather than impulse retail.

Every tier should prioritise LiFePO4 chemistry, pure sine-wave output, fast AC recharge, reliable UPS/EPS operation, EU sockets, documented cold-weather limits and a local service path. The strongest sales message is not maximum capacity. It is predictable continuity, with a product and support package matched to the buyer’s actual interruption scenario.

Conclusion

Ukraine’s portable power market is crowded, but it is not commoditised in the way headline prices suggest. The hardware is increasingly similar; the risk surrounding availability, sockets, warranty, service and correct sizing is not. The winning offer will make those uncertainties smaller.

The market’s centre of gravity sits near 1–2.4 kWh and 1.8–2.4 kW, where apartment continuity and small-business backup meet acceptable mobility. A 1 kWh model should lead with portability, a 2 kWh model with versatility, and a 3–4 kWh model with deployment planning. Brands that understand those distinct jobs—and support them locally—have a stronger path than brands that simply add another battery to an already crowded catalogue.
